U.K. Police Investigate Stephen Lawrence Smear Claims

The Guardian revealed an undercover smear campaign, led by the Greater London police force, intended to deface the family of slain teen Stephen Lawrence in the 1980s and 1990s. The racially motivated murder in 1993 initiated major changes in Britain’s double jeopardy rule and racism within the police force.
