Brazil Protesters Disrupt Independence Day Celebrations

Thousands of Brazilians rung in the country’s 191st Independence Day on Saturday with a series of mass antigovernment protests in dozens of cities. Police officers deployed riot gear, police dogs, tear gas and pepper spray to disperse the public flare-up, arresting at least 24 people.
