Liberia's Marijuana Trade Tarnishes Government

A top official in Liberia has been arrested by police for alleged drug smuggling. Perry Polo is the security official assigned to drive the vehicle that leads the presidential motorcade.

Polo's arrest follows extended efforts by Liberia's Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), which in recent months has stepped up efforts to stamp out the illegal cultivation and harvesting of marijuana.
