Mexico Imposes Taxes on Junk Food and Soft Drinks

Mexico recently surpassed the United States as the country with the highest obesity rates, and the Mexican government is doing something about it. Congress approved a tax reform bill imposing an 8 percent tax levy of junk food, including fried foods, and a 5 percent levy on every liter of sugary drinks.
