Syrian War Wrecks World Heritage Site

Syria’s Crac des Chevaliers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has become one of the casualties of the country’s ongoing civil war, AP reported this week. Considered the world’s best preserved medieval Crusader castle, the 900-year-old structure and its religious artifacts have been damaged by heavy artillery, an airstrike and shrapnel.
