Walter Payton
Walter Payton, arguably one of the greatest running backs in NFL history, succumbed to bile duct cancer on November 1, 1999. He was 45. The Hall of Famer also suffered from primary sclerosing cholangitis, a rare autoimmune disease of liver, and spent his final months as an advocate for organ donation.
