Raising Junk Food Prices Could Encourage Folks to Eat Less

A new study found that an effective way in cutting down on our junk food consumption could be by raising its price. Hiking up the price of soda by 10 percent could mean a 1 to 24 percent drop in consumption, say researchers at the University of Auckland and University of Otago. Also, lowering the cost of healthy foods like fruits and vegetables by 10 percent could translate into a 2 to 8 percent consumption increase.
