Congress Lets the Violence Against Women Act Die

Because Congress couldn’t agree on a revised version of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), a bill aimed at ensuring protections for rape victims, the bill missed its renewal deadline and is officially dead. Conservatives had issues with new additions that included protections for undocumented immigrants, Native Americans and LGBT victims of sexual assault, reported The Atlantic.
