Mental Illness and the Gun Control Debate

While the Sandy Hook massacre has raised awareness around mental health and gun violence, a new USA Today feature questions whether laws focusing solely on the mentally ill is fair. Some health experts believe that such legislation could further stigmatize mental illness, especially given that only 3-5 percent of people suffering from psychiatric disorders commit violent crimes.
