The saying "everything in moderation" is especially true for consumers of red meat. Researchers from Cleveland Clinic found that a chemical called TMAO, which is released in our intestines after eating as little as an 8 oz. steak, can increase our risk of heart disease. That doesn’t mean we should give up on meat all together, but cutting back on pork and red meat could be beneficial to our health, says the New York Times.
