Why Don’t People Get Tested?

Cultural stigma and lack of health care benefits may stand in the way of people getting tested. But so does the fact that HIV is treated differently than other diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. Depending on where you live, there may be required consent forms or pre-testing conversations, which may deter people from going through with it. This can be a missed opportunity to test someone who may be positive and doesn’t know it.
