Women in Jail More Likely to Have Experienced Past Trauma

Understanding trauma may help keep women out of prison, says a new study. Researchers interviewed 115 incarcerated women and found that a majority of them have experienced some form of past trauma — domestic violence, witnessing violence and theft and caregiver violence — which in turn put them into risk for breaking the law, Science Daily reported
