Suicide, Hip Hop and African-American Men

In a recent feature for Hip Hop Wired, writer Latifah Muhammad tackles an important yet ignored issue in the hip-hop community: suicide and depression. Over the past year, rappers Capital Steez, Freddy E, NFL player Jovan Belcher and Chris Lightly all took their lives. Muhammad writes that stigma and Black masculinity are major barriers in why men don’t seek help.
