Meningococcal Vaccine

While meningitis — a viral infection that leads to the inflammation of the membranes (meninges) surrounding your brain and spinal cord — is not very common, it’s spread easily through saliva (kissing) and can be deadly. The CDC recommends that the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4) should be given when someone is a preteen and then a booster shot to older teens for extra protection.
