40 Percent of Cities Deemed “Unwalkable”

While walking can help you lose weight and help you distress, past data shows that not enough Americans do it. A new survey found that one major obstacle to walking was safety. Overall, 40 percent of respondents wrote that they lived in areas that were unsafe, lacked proper lighting and sidewalks. Also, African-Americans listed crime as the fifth reason why they don’t take treks in their neighborhoods.
