What Cuts to Food Stamps Really Mean for America’s Poor

The first round of cuts to the federal and state food stamp program went into effect on Nov. 1, which may affect more than 48 million Americans. On average, cuts are “small” —$32 less a month for a family of four, but that can translate into $1.40 per meal. Vulnerable populations will be hit the hardest, especially the elderly, USA Today writes
