Drug Reform Policies

In 2010, Congress passed a law called the Fair Sentencing Act (FSA), which reduced the sentencing disparity between offenses for crack and powder cocaine from 100:1 to 18:1. This move will impact almost 3,000 crack offenders each year and reduce crack sentences by 27 months on average. By 2015, this will save more than 1,500 prison beds and over $42 million, says the Huffington Post
