New Year, New Attitude! - Just because I am BET.com’s health writer doesn’t mean that I am not human. Between working part-time and being a full-time graduate film student, it isn’t always easy to watch what I eat and workout all the time. But, I wil reclaim my health in 2014! Read about ways that I am going to live a healthier and stronger life. — Kellee Terrell (@kelleent)(Photo: Steve Cole/Getty Images)

Enroll in Obamacare - I missed the first Dec. 24 Obamcare deadline for Jan 1 coverage because I needed more time to educate myself on the plans. Now that I have it all figured out, I will enroll in the next few days. Bring on my coverage! Have you enrolled yet? You have until March 31 to get coverage. (Photo: Joe Raedle/Getty Images)

Cooking at the Crib More - I love to cook, but after a long day of classes and writing, sometimes the last thing I want to do is whip up something over the stove. But, I bought a Crock-Pot and, with the help of online recipes from sites, I am going to master the art of cooking low-fat meals at home to not only lose weight, but to save money and time. (Photo: David McNew/Getty Images)

Join a Cheap and Local Gym - I loved my gym in Brooklyn, but I now live in Chicago and had a hard time finding a gym that fit into my budget. Thankfully, with the year ending, gyms are offering some amazing deals and I found one in my area that has amazing classes and equipment for a mere $299 for 16 months! Zumba and ballet barre classes here I come!(Photo: Stan Carroll/Commercial Appeal/Landov)

Eating Breakfast Every Day - They don’t call it the most important meal for nothing, but unfortunately, I skip it more often than not. Now whether or not eating breakfast helps lose weight is to be determined, but for me, eating a healthy breakfast keeps me focused and I work better in the A.M. Also, eating breakfast stops me from gorging on lunch.  (Photo: David Silverman/Getty Images)

Getting My Om On! - Recently, I went to Cali to visit a friend and we went to yoga twice when I was there. I felt more calm and relaxed than I had been in a really long time. Thankfully my new gym offers yoga classes. No gym membership? No problem. Try taking classes in your living room online via Hulu or On Demand. (Photo: Getty Images)

Not Sweating the Small Stuff - Stable emotional and mental health is such an important part of maintaining overall good health. This year, I am not going to internalize negativity around me: Demanding people, unsupportive “friends,” unnecessary drama and stupidity on social media sites. Instead, I am going to channel that energy into my writing, films, activism and weight loss plan. (Photo: Image Source/Getty Images)

Popping My Pills - Despite a recent study saying that taking supplements may not help us live longer or improve heart health, that doesn’t mean taking them is harmful. I am going to make an effort to take an everyday multivitamin, Vitamin D and biotin supplements to make up for the vitamins I am missing out on with my diet. (Photo: Scott Olson/Getty Images)

Juice, Juice, Juice! - Like most Americans, I do not get my daily six to nine servings of fruits and veggies everyday, but one way to change that is by juicing on a daily basis. My favorite recipe is a combo of kale, apple, carrots and beets. Even better: Not all juicers are expensive either. There are juicers to fit in everyone’s budget.(Photo: Detroit Free Press/MCT/LANDOV)

Reducing Liquor Intake - Anyone who knows me knows that I love a good cocktail, but in order to meet my weight loss goals, I am going to have to cut back on the vino and the margaritas. However, I can have one 5 oz. glass of red wine (150 calories) a night, which has been proven to help fight against heart disease and increases good cholesterol. (Photo: David Silverman/Getty Images)

Flossin’ - Flossing is mandatory to maintain good dental health says my dentist, yet 51 percent of Americans don’t do it daily and 10 percent don’t do it at all. This might be my hardest resolution to keep, but I am going to try hard to floss in the morning and at night to reduce plaque and keep my mouth extra healthy. (Photo: Image Source/Getty Images)

Eating More Vegetarian/Vegan Meals - In 2014, I want to seriously cut back on red and processed meats and try eating meatless meals three days a week. Eating a plant-based diet has been found to reduce your risk of certain cancers, heart disease, stroke and obesity. And with so many resources online to help me make healthy and tasty vegetarian/vegan meals, I think I can do this! (Photo: Cindy Ord/Getty Images for Cat Cora)
