Why Hospice Care Matters to African-Americans

A new article in the Baltimore Sun highlights a taboo topic in the Black community: Hospice care. While enrolling dying family members in this type of care has increased over the years, only a mere 9 percent of Blacks rely on it, despite the fact that Medicaid and Medicare basically cover the entire cost.
