How Racism Messes With Black Youth’s Mental Health

The stress from racism is “toxic” to the mental health of Black youth, says a new study. Researchers found that experiencing racism increased levels of depression, anxiety and social phobias in kids of color. Another interesting finding: Afro-Caribbean teens were more mentally and emotionally affected by racism than African-American teens.
