The singer said she really needed her sister when she was far from home and her marriage was failing.
In a recent interview with New York Magazine, Solange Knowles opened up about her current relationship, divorcing her son's father and how her relationship with Beyoncé became “super-duper close” after she got pregnant at 17 and moved to Idaho to be with her boyfriend Daniel Smith, whom she later married. Being a mom, she says, “was always chill and easy for me,” but it was her marriage to Smith that was floundering. By the time she was 21, they were divorced.
Knowles said it was then "when you really, really need your sister. Every time there was drama and I was all the way in Idaho, it was nice to be able to call. Now it's kind of a reversal, with her getting married and having a baby after me."
Knowles has since moved on to a happier relationship with music video director Alan Ferguson, which is going on four years. "We had a lot of mutual friends who were all putting little buggies in each other’s ear," she said of her friends' attempts to hook them up.
The two moved to Brooklyn last year with her 8-year-old son Julez and we're sure her sister couldn't be more thrilled to have her back. They see each other at least once a week. “Blue comes over, I babysit,” says Solange. “[Beyoncé] takes Julez sometimes for the weekend. [Blue] and Julez are going to grow up more like sister and brother than cousins.”
