Alicia Keys might be busy being a star singer and ambassador for children affected by AIDS, but she also makes plenty of time to embrace another role that she says has changed her life: motherhood. In the December/January issue of Scholastic Parent & Child, the mother to 2-year-old Egypt with husband Swizz Beatz says being a mom has made her "a better person."

"Being a parent has made me more open, more connected to myself, more happy, and more creative," she says. "I'm more discerning in what I do and how I do it. It's just made me a better person all the way around."

And if you thought it was a struggle for the Girl on Fire singer to adjust to her new role, think again. Keys had an easy time slipping into her new job title and only wishes she had more time to spend with her son.

"What's been surprisingly easy is just how natural parenthood feels," the 31-year-old explains. "I feel great about how easily I’ve fallen into the role. I love it!"

With all the positive gains from having her first child, it's no wonder Keys is already looking forward to giving Egypt a little brother or sister someday.

"Actually I am," she said in a recent interview with Power 106 FM’s Big Boy's Neighborhood. "I would definitely like to have another baby. At least another one and then we'll see from there. But not now because I gotta go on tour, this album just came out. I'm excited about it. I need everybody to hear it."
