The tennis star says she's "boring" now and didn't do anything for New Year's Eve.
Serena Williams is now a self-proclaimed "boring" girl. The tennis star says that she used to love going out, but now finds herself prioritizing career goals over late-night parties for big occasions like, say, New Year's Eve.
"I've been having insomnia, I don't know what time zone I'm in," she told the Daily Mail UK. "I'm nocturnal right now. I was awake for New Year's Eve. I heard the firecrackers, and I would have loved to have seen it but I had a match...so I didn't do anything fun."
And looks like staying in paid off because Williams won the Brisbane International for her 47th career title over the holiday and is ready to take on the Australian Open. The 31-year-old is currently ranked third in the world, but is striving to be the oldest No. 1 in the world.
"I'm really boring now," Williams said. "I used to be fun. Now for a fun time do not call me. I think I just got older, and I realized I can't be that fun girl for the rest of my life. I could be the oldest number one [tennis champion]. I don't know how that goes with the funnest."
