Beyoncé and Salma Hayek have officially launched their new charity venture with Gucci called Chime for Change, an initiative that aims to empower women worldwide. The campaign will raise funds and awareness on projects and share the stories of inspirational females. Individuals will be able to search for projects and organizations that interest them across 38 countries and donate to those causes.

Hayek announced the project during the TEDxWomen luncheon at Bryn Mawr College Thursday and while Bey was unable to attend the event, she appeared in a short film speaking on the endeavor.

"I have always felt strongly about equal opportunity for women. Girls have to be taught from early on that they are strong and capable of being anything they want to be. It's up to us to change the statistics for women around the world. I'm honored to be in the company of women who live fearlessly and set an example for the next generation of young ladies."

Other celebs like Jada Pinkett-Smith, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep and Arianna Huffington are said to be tied into the project as well. To learn more, visit chimeforchange.org.
