The first couple heads to a swanky D.C. Indian restaurant to celebrate his 52nd birthday.
Barack and Michelle Obama took Thursday night to finally celebrate the president's 52nd birthday four days after the actual event. The Obamas dressed in their formal attire to dine in Washington, D.C.'s swanky Indian restaurant Rasika in the city's West End neighborhood.
"The president and first lady are going out to dinner to celebrate his birthday," the White House said Thursday.
The first lady wore a black knee-length backless dress while the president wore a suit for the occasion. Rasika, which is owned by Delhi-born Ashok Bajaj's Knightbridge group, serves Tawa (griddle), Sigri (open barbecue) and Tandoori along with modern regional dishes.
The outing comes days before the pair heads off on their annual getaway to Martha's Vineyard, where they'll spend nine days on the Massachusetts island. The president has reportedly kept his schedule clear to relax during the vacation.
