Since being named Weight Watchers' celebrity spokesperson in 2010, Jennifer Hudson has dropped an astounding 80 pounds. Exercise, along with healthy eating, helped her achieve her fit frame and she plans to pass on the habits she’s learned to her four-year-old son, David Otunga Jr.
“I’m always reading about what you’re supposed to do and not supposed to do,” the award-winning actress and singer tells Weight Watchers' digital magazine, Momfeeds. “By taking some of the things that I’ve learned from my own experiences, and wrapping them up in a whole lot of fun, I’m making the healthy choice the easy choice.”
The actress, who currently stars in the movie The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete, says one of her best tricks is to stock the hotel room with fresh fruit when she’s traveling with her family. “It’s good for me because I always have a healthy snack available, but it’s even better for David Jr. because, unlike me, he doesn’t even think about the chips and candy bars in the vending machine down the hall. He gets to choose anything he wants from this bowl full of stuff.”
While she admits that she doesn’t exactly love logging hours in the gym, she says taking walks and playing basketball with her son and fiancé David Otunga are her favorite ways to stay active while getting in some invaluable family time.
And, yes, it can be hard to get kids to eat their veggies, but JHud has a secret weapon for that, too. “Sometimes instead of ordering out, we make our own pizza together. We always have a lot of veggies for toppings, so he can be creative and try new vegetables in a fun, interesting way.”
