Who runs the world? Girls. That’s the message Beyoncé hopes stays in the minds of young women, thanks to Ban Bossy, a new national campaign encouraging girls to take leadership roles in their schools and communities.

Bey joins First Lady Michelle Obama, Condoleezza Rice and more stars in the movement, a partnership of the Girl Scouts of the USA, LeanIn.org and Lifetime Television. By middle school, "Girls are less interested in leadership than boys," Bey says in a PSA, which adds that they are deterred from asserting themselves in fear of being labeled as “bossy,” “pushy” or “stubborn,” compared to young boys, who are called “leaders” for their ambitiousness.

The star encourages girls of all ages to “be brave” and “be you,” punctuating her message with, “I’m not bossy. I’m the boss.”
