Common Opens Up About Ex-Girlfriends and Getting Over Breakups

The rapper-actor admits he's not marriage material yet.

Common has really been opening up about his past relationships lately. Last week while on the Combat Jack Show, the rapper gushed about his former relationship with Erykah Badu and how she practically put a spell on him. This week, he let his tongue loose while on the Breakfast Club and talked some more about his time with Badu, Serena Williams and Taraji P. Henson.

"The hood knows what it is. Erykah got something with her, she got something special. Erykah is a raw girl, she got a lot to her. She's from the hood, point blank. She's just one of those people from the hood that's artsy, artistic, spiritual, she's got a lot to her," he said about his former flame.

Common also addressed his breakup with Williams and whether the tennis star had moved on to Drake after they called it quits. He admits there was some beef between him and Drake and even confronted Williams about the new relationship, but they were able to hash it out eventually.

While he says he doesn't think he's marriage material just yet, it sounds like when Common fell for these two women, he fell hard. But don't expect the man to go running back for a second chance.

"It's like once I've experienced that person its like, man, sometimes life goes on," he said. "I can't say I never would go back but Serena and Erykah were the most serious relationships that I had as an adult and after, it's one of those things, it's like, 'I have to move forward.' It was real love right there. Both of those women I could've married. I was like if I'm not supposed to be there, we're just supposed to be friends."
