Jennifer Hudson Chats About Her Long Engagement and Being a Celebrity Mom

The singer says when she ties the knot there will be no talk of divorce.

Jennifer Hudson has been engaged to her boyfriend David Otunga for six years now and during a recent visit to the Wendy Williams Show, the singer was forced to address the big question: when is the couple getting married? Not one to shy away from poking her nose in other people's business, Wendy Williams called it the "pink elephant in the room" and said the pair has been together forever and have a five-year-old child together.

"Well the ring is still there and we will get married one day but again, my thing is, once I get married, I don't believe in divorce," Hudson said. "And so when I get married, it's for good. We want to be completely sure we're together, we're happy and when it's time…"
Hudson also said her fiancé is a sentimental man who asked for his own engagement ring to let everyone know his relationship status.
"Well, he wanted one. He said he needed everybody to know that he was taken as well. After he gave me my ring, for his birthday I gave him his," she said.
As for their adorable son, David, he's in kindergarten now and already asking mommy to not kiss him when she drops him off at school. Williams asked how she was handling being a working mom and whether it was easier to bring him everywhere when he was younger.
"It's the reverse for us because when he was in preschool, he went to like a Montessori school and we're like aliens. So because it's like, 'Wait a minute, his mother is not bringing him to school? And where is she in his life?'" Hudson said. "Now he don't know what I do, but he goes with me when he can. In summer break he travels with mommy, before he went to school he traveled with me, but I want him to have a normal upbringing. He didn't choose this life and I feel like that's important."
