When DeVon Franklin was still courting Meagan Good, the couple decided to remain abstinent until they married in 2012. Now, in a recent episode of OWN's Help Desk, a 28-year-old woman has asked Franklin for advice on how she could practice abstinence with her partner, with whom she's been sexually active during their six months together. Franklin first explained his own journey and why he felt it was the right choice for them to make.

"I'm a living, breathing example. I gave up sex as a man in Hollywood, and people thought I was crazy," Franklin said. "It really laid the foundation of discipline. And that discipline, privately, has manifested professionally and publicly in a lot of blessings I've had — including my wife."
Franklin then gave the woman tips on how she could approach the subject with her partner and addressed her concerns about wanting to please her boyfriend while remaining a devoted woman of God.
"So the way that you bring up the conversation is with calm, with poise and with authority, knowing that God has given you the words," Franklin says. "You have the conversation, and you explain it in the context of what you want out of your life and why you don't believe this behavior is conducive with where you are and where you want to be."
