Rihanna Announces Diamond Ball for Charity

Event will benefit her foundation for education and arts.

Rihanna is throwing a party for a cause. The singer announced Thursday that she will host a charity event to benefit her foundation to promote education and arts around the world. The first annual Diamond Ball will take place on December 11 at the Vineyard in Beverly Hills, California.
Though this will be the first high-profile event RiRi is hosting for charity, her philanthropic endeavors actually started back in 2012, when she founded the Clara Lionel Foundation. The organization was named after the Bajan singer's grandparents Clara and Lionel Braithwaite
"There is truly nothing I'm more proud of and we've just gotten started," Rihanna says of the foundation.
The Diamond Ball will host around 600 guests, including several of the singer's celebrity friends. The guest list will be announced at a later date. Rihanna says the first annual event will be "elegant and inspirational."
Hopefully the Diamond Ball will become as successful as Alicia Keys's Black Ball, an annual New York event to benefit her HIV/AIDS charity Keep a Child Alive. The Black Ball just wrapped up its 11th annual gala last week.
