Iggy Azalea Diagnosed With Joint Disorder

The rapper tells Twitter followers of temporomandibular disorder.

Iggy Azalea recently took to Twitter to announce that she’s currently battling a medical condition called temporomandibular disorder. The joint is located in front of each ear and connects your jaw to your skull and allows you to chew, talk, eat and yawn. Issues with the joint can lead to trouble chewing or opening your mouth, pain in the facial muscles, swelling and other discomforts.

In a series of tweets, the rapper sent the following message to her followers:

“I’m back to work on my second album next week... Anxious to get going on it. The excited kind of anxious. Also last month I was diagnosed with TMJ which isn't the best. I'm gonna make more of an effort to take care of myself in 2015, stay away from all the drama & hopefully not have any flair [sic] ups,” Azalea wrote. “I don't think western medicine all the way acknowledges what a huge toll mental stress takes on our bodies. But I do believe it is a factor.”

Stress, as well as putting too much pressure on your teeth through grinding and clenching, can cause the joint disorder, so we’re happy to hear that Azalea is putting in the effort to step away from the petty beefs, unnecessary stressors, and drama to focus more on her health. She suggested that others follow the same prescription in their own lives.

“Anyhow I don't think it will ever prevent me from doing anything I want to but it has made me realize it's important to look after yourself,” she continued writing. “So that's my little update and message! Look after your body and mind in the new year, be safe and enjoy it all!”
