Little Sophie just turned 10 and has been battling spina bifida.

As if we couldn’t adore Boris Kodjoe any more, the actor has written a letter to his daughter Sophie in honor of her 10th birthday that is sure to make your heart melt. “The day I met your mother I knew I was ready to be a man,” Kodjoe wrote on Facebook, along with a sweet photo of him with his little girl. “The day I met you I became one. You’ve shown me what true strength and courage is and you taught me that the love of faith and the faith in love is one and the same.”

His little girl has had to fight through so much in her 10 short years, but it’s probably why each birthday is so momentous for him and his wife, Nicole Ari Parker.

“I’m in awe of your ability to defy the odds and I marvel at the confidence with which you produce miracle after miracle,” Kodjoe continued. “You smile your way through life and your light touches everyone around you. I’m proud of you because you are your mother’s daughter, I’m proud of you because you are Sophie Tei-Naaki Lee Kodjoe.”

“Happy 10th Birthday my little heart,” he added. “I love you more than you will ever believe.”
