Gabrielle Union Talks Stepmotherhood
Becoming a new stepmother is a lot of responsibility for any woman to assume, especially when three sons are involved. However Being Mary Jane front woman, Gabrielle Union, says that it's all good once one's intentions are healthy and positive.
"I think it's always a transition period, but I think as long as you're consistent, whatever that is... If you're going to be a good, reasonable, normal person, they get used to that and you just have to be another adult in their life that supports them and loves them," she told Billy Bush on Access Hollywood.
In fact, addition and not replacement seems to be the most important step in stepmotherhood she emphasized, "Don't ever think you're going to replace any of their parents," she continued. "They have good moms. I just want to be another loving adult in their life."
Elsewhere in the interview, the movie star talked about celebrating her stepson's video game-themed birthday, her and Dwyane Wade's plans to celebrate their upcoming anniversary in Atlanta with Ludacris for his Luda Day weekend, and her strict house rules policy. However, it was her hilariously adorable comments about her husband's giddy post-marriage nature that was the outstanding moment in the segment.
"The weirdest thing for me is how freakishly happy he is all the time," she said. "All the time! ... I like to override his happiness with gripes."
