Would You Try Alicia Keys's 40-Day Cleanse?

This might make those healthy resolutions a little easier.

Alicia Keys is starting the year off right, and she’s giving us all some good motivation to stick with those healthy resolutions. For starters, she’s giving up eating meat for 40 whole days. Uh huh, you read that right.

The “Girl on Fire” singer revealed on Instagram on January 20 that she had started a healthy eating challenge with a veggie-only diet. And she treated her followers to a look at her first meal, which appeared to be a zucchini “noodle” pasta with roasted broccoli and herbs.

“40 days of eating only greens!!” she captioned the photo, adding the hashtags, “#day1 #beautyinsideout #gorgeousgreens #actuallydelicious #focused #feelingmyself.” It’s unclear whether she just means animal proteins like chicken and fish, or if she’s cutting out animal bi-products like cheese and eggs, too.

One thing is for sure, though: she’s not the first star to go for the greens. Beyoncé and Jay Z memorably went on a 22-day vegan challenge back in 2013.
Alicia has clearly been working on bettering herself health-wise. The mom-of-two trained for weeks and completed the 2015 New York City Marathon in November. Couple that with this plant-based shift and it definitely looks like she’s on the road towards a healthy, active 2016.
