Catacombe dei Cappuccini, Palermo, Sicily
More mummies are on display in Sicily's Catacombe dei Cappuccini and have been since the monks of 1599 discovered a new way to embalm their fallen friars. Over the centuries, it became a status symbol to be added to the collection dressed in their finest clothes and the catacombs developed into a "human library" for some really creepy research.
