In 1908, New Jersey candy maker, William W. Kolb, is said to have dipped apples into caramel and placed them in his shop windows to draw in customers, and thus, the candy apple was born. If your friends give you grief about indulging, remind them that you’re technically eating fruit (albeit dipped in sinful caramel!).
