Fans of the classic horror film The Shining will be familiar with this supernatural hot spot. The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, was the inspiration behind Stephen King’s classic horror novel (adapted into a movie in 1980). Its doors are open to the public today, but beware of sightings of shadowy figures at the foot of your bed (particularly in room 217) or the faint sounds of children laughing in the halls.
