Empire State Building

One of New York City’s most prized landmarks, the Empire State Building was also the ill-fated site of many suicides and suicide attempts over the years. One popular ghost tale involves a woman dressed in clothing from the late 1940s appearing on the building’s observation deck. She is said to tell visitors that her lover died while fighting in Germany (presumably during World War II) before she jumps off the platform and disappears into thin air.
