Ja Rule's To Appear In Court On August 18th For Gun Charge

Published June 9, 2010

After three years, Ja Rule finally has a date with the NYC court system this summer.

On Tuesday (June 8), due to a gun case back in July 2007, a Manhattan judge has assigned an August 18 court date for Ja Rule, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins.

Atkins pleaded not guilty to a weapons possession charge after authorities found a loaded semiautomatic pistol in a vehicle in which the Queens rapper was a passenger after attending a concert in NYC.

Atkins, who is currently filming a movie, was granted permission to skip Tuesday's court hearing due to prior obligations in San Jose, California.
