Bow Wow explains why Twitter controversy hasn't hurt his career.
Bow Wow's a long way from his clean-cut kiddie rap days.
From feuding with Soulja Boy, calling out bloggers and even threatening former Black Carpet correspondent Toure, Bow's routinely found himself in controversy in recent years, especially on Twitter.
Earlier this year, the pint-sized MC caused an uproar when he told XXL Magazine to "stop posting that bulls**t" when the publication put up a link of Reflection Eternal's new mixtape and implied that DJ Drama turned him down to do a mixtape because he doesn't "kiss *ss." While Twitter controversy has hurt certain artists, Bow doesn't think his fiery tweets have damaged his brand.
"I mean, yeah, you know, when it comes to Twitter, I think that it’s all about, one thing a wise man always told me: 'it’s not what you do, it’s how you do,'" Bow told BET.com. "For me, you know, I’m an entertainer, I think I can get away with a lot, because I’m an actor too and I think a lot of people, they don’t think that. They just think music first when they see me, which is understandable, but I’m also an actor, so sometimes I say things out of just acting mode."
"I don’t care, I don’t take it back," he continued. "If I say it, I say it. It is what it is, but you know, no, not at all. 'Cause if it was hurting me, I would lose followers. I just gain like another hundred thousand, so I’m on my way to a million followers on Twitter right now. I’m at half a million right now and counting, so no, it hasn’t hurt me yet."
