Bun B Explains How Lil Wayne Replaced Him on Drake Song

Fans of Drake's "Thank Me Later" may have noticed that Bun B randomly says, "Drake you got them right?" during "Miss Me," a song featuring Lil Wayne.

It turns out the vocals weren't random at all, just leftovers from a verse Bun recorded over the track a while back. The song was initially slated to appear on Bun's "Trill OG," but eventually made its way onto "Later" once Weezy heard it. Upon Drake's request, the UGK legend relinquished the song without requesting that his verse stay on it.

Drake is another person I do a lot of music with," Bun told BET.com. "We record a lot of music and with this particular song, it was something that was gonna be from my album, but then when he got to Wayne, Wayne kinda fell in love with it. I guess emotions was going on ‘cause Wayne was getting ready to go in and he was like, 'well, Wayne really wants to get on this record.' I didn’t wanna be the dude who didn’t show Lil Wayne some love before he went in. Free Weezy, by the way.

It’s an incredible record, but I feel like the best is yet to come," he continued. "Drake is an incredibly talented person, but he’s very young still in his career right now. I think some of the music that he has yet to do is still to be made and when we do go back in and we do something together, it’ll probably murder 'Miss Me.'
