Nicki Minaj's Album Goes Platinum

She's done it, Barbz! A little over a month after the release of Nicki Minaj's highly anticipated Pink Friday, the album has been certified platinum.

It only took the Harajuku Barbie six weeks to receive her platinum certification. At press time, the LP stood at no. 8 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, right under Eminem's Recovery, and a spot above Keyshia Cole's Calling All Hearts. It's been in the Top 10 since being released on Nov. 22.

Quiet as kept, Nicki has been outselling Kanye West, who also came out on the Nov. 22. While 'Ye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy debuted at no. 1 and Nicki at no. 2, they've since traded places. Fantasy presently ranks at no. 19.

Nicki also has the distinction of being the first New York rapper to have a debut go platinum since Lloyd Banks' Hunger for More in 2004.
