Waka Flocka Flame was released from jail yesterday (January 5) after posting a $31,950 bond. Deputy Fielder of Georgia's Henry County Sheriff's Office, confirmed to MTV News that the rapper was released from custody at 3:33 p.m.
As previously reported, Waka (born Juaquin Malphurs) turned himself in to authorities on drug, gun and gang-related charges earlier this week. The surrender came two weeks after cops raided Waka's Atlanta home and found guns and marijuana. Gucci Mane was detained and the little brother of producer Lex Luger was arrested.
A few days before Christmas, Waka denied gang ties during an interview with Hartford, CT's 93.7 radio station and assured listeners that he wouldn't have to turn himself in.
"I'm a rapper. I'm not a gangbanger," he said. "How can you gang bang and be a rapper? I don't understand. I would love to find out where their information is coming from."
Waka's mother and manager, Debra Antney, says her son turned himself in "because he wanted to do the right thing and didn't want to run."
