It looks like Drake may have finally found a role he can sink his teeth into.
According to thewrap.com, Young Money's flagship artist is in talks to star in Arbitrage, an indie picture starring Al Pacino and Susan Surandon.
Nicholas Jarecki, of The Outsider fame, is set to write and direct the film. The plot centers around a hedge-fund executive who seeks to sell his shady business to a major bank before being exposed as a fraud. No word on what role Drake is in talks to play. Production is scheduled to start in New York in March.
Drake first came to prominence for his portrayal of Jimmy Brooks on the TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation. His potential role inThe Arbitrage would mark his first acting job since becoming a platinum rapper. Drake's been having a hard time finding projects of his liking since his star has risen on the music scene.
“That’s probably my biggest goal: to get back into acting and really pick the right projects,” he said in an interview. “I’ve been reading different scripts, but I know what I want to do and what type of project I want to be involved in. I’ve just been getting the typical projects that they’d offer to a new rapper, and it’s like, 'ehh.' That’s not really what I want to do, or how I see myself. I can actually act."
