B.o.B’s no stranger to award shows. He’s used to being nominated by now, but doesn’t have too many trophies to show for it. Excluding the Grammy Awards, for which he’s nominated five times, the “Nothin’ On You” rapper has only won twice in 28 nominations. Though he’s grateful to have received a nod, the goal’s still to add a Grammy to his near empty mantel come Sunday night.
“You always see pictures of celebrities holding multiple Grammys on their arms,” B.o.B said, noting that he'd love to win, but isn't getting his hopes up.
B.o.B's "Nothin' On You" featurnig Bruno Mars is nominated for Record of the Year, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Song Collaboration while "Airplanes Part II" featuring Paramore's Hayley Williams and Eminem is nominated for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
His B.o.B Presents the Adventures of Bobby Ray is also nominated for Best Rap Album. Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3, Eminem’s Recovery, The Roots’ How I Got Over and Drake’s Thank Me Later are also nominated in the category. While he’s a fan of all the nominees, he thinks Jay’s the favorite to win the category.
“You’re going up against someone who’s been building a foundation and a fan base for a decade, more than a decade,” he explained. “I feel like it’s a solid album. I’ve never once ever felt let down after listening to a Jay album.”
But what if e wins? Is B.o.B so sure of the outcome that he won’t even bother prepping an acceptance speech?
“It’d be better to just note something” B.o.B shared. “[Don’t] prep yourself to not win anything and you do and go out there and got nothing to say.”
Will B.o.B add to his award collection? Find out when the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards air on February 13 at 8 pm EST.
