Justin Bieber Says Best New Artist Award Is Up for Grabs

A Grammy may be the only accolade missing from Justin Bieber’s impressive resume. He’s already won big at the MTV Video Music Awards, the American Music Awards, and the Teen Choice Awards. Come Sunday night, JB will get the chance to add a Grammy to his rapidly growing list of awards.

The 16-year-old will compete with John Mayer’s “Battle Studies,” Lady Gaga’s “The Fame Monster,” Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” and Susan Boyle’s “I Dreamed a Dream” for Best Pop Vocal Album. In a field loaded with heavyweights and former Grammy recipients, JB may actually be the underdog to win Pop Vocal.

But Best New Artist, for which Drake, Mumford & Sons, Florence and the Machine, and Esperanza Spalding are also nominated, is more of a crapshoot. Bieber thinks all the nominees have a chance to join Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, and John Legend as Best New Artist alumni.

“I think anyone can take it home,” JB told BET.com. “I’m really excited about it. And I’m just excited to be nominated. It’s an honor.”

Will Justin go home a winner? Find out when the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards air this Sunday, February 13, at 8 pm EST.
