dead prez’s M1 makes his role as an educator official this spring, as he joins Haverford College as the Africana Studies Scholar/Artist in Residence. For two weeks this semester, he will work with staff and students to produce the Africana Media Project, an experimental multimedia album that will combine key moments from around the Diaspora and remix and mash them into something that moves the discipline forward. The album will be available for download following his tenure at the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-area college. He will also participate in the school’s annual AcadeMIX Hip Hop Symposium, sitting on panels with other artists, including Jazzy Jeff, and performing in an on campus showcase.
