The Black Eyed Peas will open a music academy in New York City this July. The school will teach local teenagers ages 13 to 19 the basics of video and music production. Called the peapod Adobe Youth Voices Music and Multimedia Academy, the school is a partnership between the BEP’s Peapod Foundation and the Adobe Foundation. It’s actually the organizations’ fourth collaboration—they already operate three Youth Voices academies in California.

“Our passion for music and media was fueled by many generous people on our road to success,” will.i.am said. “Expanding the network of Peapod Adobe Youth Voices academies enables us to pay it forward, giving more youth the skills and encouragement they need to realize their dreams.”

Students will be selected for participation based on teacher recommendations.
