The Based God says he’s cooking up music with the Roc Nation rapper.
Just when you think you've got Lil B figured out, the unconventional emcee always seems to make a move that throws you for a loop. The young rapper from Berkeley, California, who recently got the hip hop world's attention by naming his upcoming album I'm Gay, is now surprising fans by teaming up with an unlikely ally: Jay Electronica.
Electronica is no stranger to online buzz himself, and has made a name for himself in the last couple years by surfacing every so often with limited, critically acclaimed releases like "Exhibit C" and the Eternal Sunshine EP.
The two may both think outside of the box, but on the mic, they're wildly different rappers. Electronica is cerebral and exudes a spiritual calm, while B stresses swag and a stream-of-consciousness style. B maintains that there are commonalities beneath the surface, however.
"If you listen to Jay Electronica's first mixtape that he had 'Exhibit C' on, and if you really listen to him, there's a lot of stuff that I feel in my heart are similarities," B told MTV News. "You know, like, subject matter. It's another level that we're in tune on, because we're here for the positivity and to make a change."
Electronica has yet to comment on the project, which doesn't yet have a title or release date, but to hear Lil B tell it, the two are planning something special.
"This project with Jay is gonna be very spiritual, very uplifting, very deep," he said. "It will be historical."
